Q: Who is Sadie?
A: Sadie is the younger sister of Max Payne. When their parents died in a car-crash, Sadie was moved to a foster-home, where she stayed till she was 19.
Q: What's the deal with Sadie and Vlad?
A: Sadie got to know Vladimir Lem, when she was 16, through a friend of hers. Sadie started working for Vlad as somewhat of a spy. She gathered information for him and eventually worked her way up the criminal ladder. She started killing for money when she was 19. only 6 months prior to getting romantically involved with Vladimir. They dated for a few years before Sadie broke it off not far after the "Valkyr" happenings of Max Payne 1.
Q: Sadie is smart, why didn't she recognize Max when he was on TV during the first game?
A: Because Sadie was out of the country, hunting down a weapons dealer in Russia for cheating Vlad for money. She didn't bother watching TV or listening to the radio.
Q: Didn't Vinnie die in Max Payne 2?
A: Not necessarily. All we see is a blown up Captain Baseballbat-boy costume and some blood. We never specifically see Vinnie blow up.
Q: But the blood on the costume, and Max's dream tells us otherwise!
A: Yes there was blood on the costume, but Sadie shot two guards, and given the power of the bomb, the bodies would have made a pretty cool splatter! As for Max's dream... It's a dream! Max wasn't there when the bomb blew, he was lying on the floor with blood pouring out of his head. So the dream means nothing for the actual story.
